BCCL: Accident at Moonidih Washery; Four Fatalities

An accident occurred at Bharat Coking Coal Ltd's (BCCL) Moonidih Washery on May 2, 2026, during slurry loading operations. Four individuals engaged by consumers were trapped due to a sudden slurry slide at Heap No. C around 5:00 PM, resulting in their deaths. Immediate rescue efforts were unsuccessful. The incident has been reported to authorities under the Factories Act, 1948. BCCL states that the ongoing renovation at Moonidih Washery means the incident is not expected to significantly impact production or other activities.
